Sports injuries in Marrakech

An ankle or knee sprain, a strain, a muscle tear, a painful athlete's shoulder: a poorly recovered injury is the first cause of relapse. Athlete rehabilitation aims both at healing the affected area and at a progressive return to your level of activity.

At Elite Physio Centre, in Guéliz, everything starts with an assessment of your injury and your sporting goals, followed by a staged programme: relieve, remobilise, strengthen, then prepare the return to your sport. Sessions last 45 minutes, by appointment only.

Rehabilitation of a sports injury at Elite Physio Centre in Marrakech

The most frequent injuries

  • Ankle or knee sprain (swelling, instability)
  • Sharp muscle pain during effort: strain or tear
  • Athlete's overload pain: tendonitis, shoulder or knee pain
  • Stiffness and loss of strength after the forced stop of activity
  • Apprehension or instability when returning to weight-bearing

Why injuries happen

  • Resuming or increasing training too quickly
  • Insufficient warm-up or faulty movement technique
  • Fatigue and lack of recovery between sessions
  • An old injury that was incompletely rehabilitated
  • Muscle imbalances: one area weaker than the others

Care at the centre

The assessment pinpoints the injured area, what it already tolerates and your goals (sport practised, level, deadlines). The return is then built on criteria: what you demonstrate in session determines the next stage — not just the calendar.

  • Manual techniques to relieve pain and recover mobility
  • Progressive strengthening of the injured area and the muscles that protect it
  • Balance, weight-bearing and sport-specific movement work
  • A staged return plan: running, changes of direction, then back to the field according to your sport

The goal: return to your sport at the right moment, with an injured area that has become solid again — and less risk of relapse.

⚠ Warning signs

After a trauma, see a doctor urgently in case of deformity, inability to put your foot down or move the joint, immediate significant swelling, or a blow to the head followed by headaches or vomiting.

Frequently asked questions

When should I consult after a sports injury?

As soon as the pain persists beyond a few days, hinders your weight-bearing or your training — or immediately if a warning sign is present. An early assessment prevents a small injury from becoming a lasting problem.

Do I need a prescription?

Most often yes: physiotherapy is provided on medical prescription, and the prescription is required for reimbursement. Bring recent examinations (X-rays, ultrasound, MRI) if you have them.

How long does a session last?

Each session lasts 45 minutes. The first is devoted to the assessment of your injury and your sporting goals.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your injury and your progress: the number is often set by the prescription, then reassessed according to your progress and the return-to-sport criteria — with no unnecessary sessions.

When can I return to my sport?

The return happens in stages, when the injured area meets the criteria of each stage (mobility, strength, weight-bearing). Your practitioner will tell you where you stand and what remains to be validated before a full return.
