Post-operative rehabilitation in Marrakech

After an operation — knee (ligaments, meniscus, prosthesis), shoulder, hip, ankle or back — rehabilitation is a treatment stage in its own right: it is what allows you to recover mobility, strength and confidence in the operated limb, step by step and safely.

At Elite Physio Centre, in Guéliz, follow-up follows your surgeon's protocol and instructions: an initial assessment, then a progressive programme adapted to your operation and your pace of recovery. Sessions last 45 minutes, by appointment only.

Post-operative rehabilitation at Elite Physio Centre in Marrakech

The most frequent situations

  • Stiffness and loss of mobility in the operated joint
  • Muscle weakness after immobilisation or rest
  • Residual pain and swelling in the first weeks
  • Apprehension about moving, leaning on the limb or resuming activity
  • Loss of balance and confidence in everyday movements

Why rehabilitation is essential

  • Immobilisation melts muscle and stiffens the joint
  • The body protects the operated area and adopts compensations
  • Healing needs measured movement — neither too early nor too late
  • Without guidance, range and strength return more slowly
  • Certain movements must be relearned in the right order

Care at the centre

Bring the operative report and your surgeon's instructions: the initial assessment uses them to set the stages of your programme, respecting healing timelines.

  • Progressive mobilisations to recover joint range of motion
  • Muscle strengthening adapted to each stage of recovery
  • Balance, walking and functional-movement work
  • Follow-up of your progress and adaptation of the programme, session after session, with the same practitioner

The goal: recover your functional abilities safely, at the pace set by your surgeon — no rushing, no delay.

⚠ Warning signs

After an operation, contact your surgeon or a doctor promptly in case of fever, redness or discharge at the scar, pain that increases instead of decreasing, or a painful swelling of the calf.

Frequently asked questions

When should rehabilitation start after an operation?

It depends on the operation: sometimes within the first days, sometimes after a period of immobilisation. Your surgeon sets the start and the instructions — bring their report to the first session.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes: post-operative rehabilitation is provided on prescription, usually written by the surgeon or the treating doctor. It is also required for reimbursement of your sessions.

How long does a session last?

Each session lasts 45 minutes. The first is devoted to the assessment: your operation, your current ranges and the stages of your programme.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your operation and your recovery: the number is often set by the prescription, then reassessed as you progress — with no unnecessary sessions.

Can I return to sport afterwards?

Returning to sport is one of the goals, but it happens in stages and with the surgeon's agreement. Your practitioner will tell you which activities to resume, and when.
